Welcome and Fire Evacuation Procedure

In the event the fire alarm sounds attendees will be advised to evacuate the building via the nearest fire exit and assemble at the Bottle of Notes opposite MIMA.

The Chair welcomed all present to the Extraordinary Council meeting and read out the Building Evacuation Procedure.

Resolution - Freedom of the Borough

Minutes:

It was MOVED by the Mayor and SECONDED by Councillor Clynch:

 

"That Mr Norman Moorsom, being a person who has rendered eminent service to the

Borough of Middlesbrough within the meaning and in pursuance of the provisions of Section 249 (5) of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended by the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 be admitted as a recipient of the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Middlesbrough, in recognition and appreciation of that eminent service, the detailed particulars whereof were recorded on the certificate presented to him that day.

 

That the certificate of Admission to the Honorary Freedom of the Borough be presented to the said Mr Norman Moorsom"

 

Prior to being put to the vote the Chair provided an opportunity for the Mayor, Councillor Clynch, other Councillors and other people present, to speak in support of the Motion.

 

The Motion was then put to the meeting and CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

Mr Moorsom then took the Oath of Freeman before the Chair of Council and signed the Freeman’s Roll of Honour, his signature being witnessed by the Chair, Chief Executive and Director of Legal and Governance Services.

 

The Chair presented to Mr Moorsom a copy of the resolution of the Council and offered congratulations to him on behalf of the Council and the people of the Borough.

 

The Chair spoke in support of the decision to award Mr Moorsom the Freedom of the Borough.

 

Mr Moorsom thanked the Council for the honour conferred and expressed his thanks

and appreciation to family, friends and others present.

 

The Chair announced the conclusion of the formal proceedings and invited the newly elected Freeman, the Mayor, Councillors and invited guests to join him for refreshments.
