Stricter enforcement on littering and fly tipping in Middlesbrough town centre!

We the undersigned petition the council to do the following: To put stricter enforcement in place on those who litter and fly tip around TS1 area of Middlesbrough. Also to educate immigrants to the area on the correct disposal of household waste and anti-social behaviours such as fly tipping/littering, and the consequences of not abiding to these laws and policies.

Middlesbrough town centre is becoming dirtier and more run down than ever. Despite a regeneration attempt with the new houses built in Union Village, John Monk housing and plans to build a hotel, the area around TS1 is dirty, unhygienic and unsightly. This includes streets such as Linthorpe Road, Princes Road, Glebe Road, Gresham Road, Waverley Street, Derwent Street, Union Street, Parliament Road and all of the surrounding areas. The park on Glebe Road is always full of litter blowing around, trash bags left at the side of the road and children playing out around this dirt. The council currently undertake periodic, routine cleaning of the area, but this is not enough. Once a cleaning takes place, litter is built up again within a couple of days. Residents in the area repeatedly leave black bin bags in the street, treating the street as their personal rubbish bin, which then rip open and the litter blows all over. Fly tipping like this is a huge problem, along with beds and larger goods being left. Litter is also flung in the street by passers by. This is happening in a lot of towns all over the country, especially in areas with a high number of asylum seekers and migrants. This needs to be tackled with stricter enforcement, education and more frequent clean ups. Our towns should be respected and cared for and those who fail to do this should face the consequences.
